Dialysis Transportation in Ontario

Total Care Transport provides scheduled, recurring transportation for dialysis patients across Southern Ontario. We understand that dialysis is not optional and that reliable, on-time transport is as important as the treatment itself. Our trained driver-attendants pick up and return patients from dialysis clinics three times a week, every week, with the consistency and care that long-term patients deserve. Serving Halton, Brampton, Kitchener-Waterloo and Etobicoke.

How Our Dialysis Transport Service Works

Setting up recurring dialysis transport with Total Care is straightforward.

  1. One call to set up your schedule. Call us with your clinic name, appointment days and times, and pickup address. We build your recurring schedule and confirm it with you before your first trip.

  2. We coordinate with your clinic. We work directly with your dialysis clinic on timing so pickups and returns align with your treatment schedule.

  3. Consistent service every session. The same standard of care on every trip. On-time pickup, assistance to and from the vehicle, and return transport once your session is complete.

  4. Adjustments when needed. Treatment times change. Call us and we will update your schedule. We are flexible because we understand dialysis patients do not have flexibility.

Is Dialysis Transport Covered by OHIP or Insurance?

Coverage depends on your situation. Here is a general guide:

Long-term care to dialysis transportation is typically covered. If you are a resident of an LTC or retirement home, your facility's care coordinator can arrange this and billing is handled directly.

Home to dialysis clinic transportation is generally not covered by OHIP. Programs that may help include the iCare Transportation Fund and ODSP for eligible recipients. Some extended health benefit plans also include medical transportation coverage.

We provide receipts for all trips and documentation to support any insurance or program claims. If you are unsure about your coverage, call us and we will help point you in the right direction.

Why Dialysis Patients Choose Total Care

Dialysis transport is different from a single trip to a hospital appointment. It is a long-term relationship between a patient and a transport provider. Here is what that means with Total Care:

  • On-time, every time. Missing dialysis is not an option. We treat your pickup time as a medical commitment, not a suggestion.

  • Post-treatment care. Dialysis leaves patients fatigued. Our driver-attendants are trained to assist patients who are tired or unsteady after treatment.

  • Recurring schedule management. We manage your full weekly schedule. You do not need to call before every session.

  • Wheelchair and stretcher capable. Some dialysis patients require wheelchair-accessible vehicles or stretcher transport. We have both.

  • 24/7 availability. Including early morning and evening dialysis appointments.

  • Mohawk Medbuy approved. Vetted and contracted by Ontario's hospital procurement program, serving hospitals across the province.
