LTC and Retirement Home
Transportation in Ontario

Total Care Transport is a trusted medical transportation partner for long-term care homes and retirement residences across Southern Ontario. We provide reliable, consistent transport for residents attending medical appointments, dialysis clinics, hospital visits and inter-facility transfers. Mohawk Medbuy approved and serving 10 hospital contracts across Ontario, we understand the coordination requirements of institutional transport and make the process straightforward for your care team. Serving facilities across Halton, Peel and Waterloo Region.

How We Work With LTC and Retirement Homes

We operate as a preferred transport partner for care facilities, not a one-off booking service. Here is what that looks like in practice.

  • One point of contact. Your care team deals with one number and one provider. No need to source transport separately for each resident or each appointment type.

  • Recurring schedule management. We manage standing schedules for residents with regular appointments such as dialysis, chemotherapy and specialist visits. Your care coordinators set it up once and we handle the rest.

  • Stretcher and wheelchair capable. We have the full range of transport options for residents at every mobility level. Stretcher transfers, wheelchair-accessible vehicles and ambulatory assistance all available from one provider.

  • Direct billing and invoicing. We provide clear invoicing for facility accounts. No chasing receipts from individual residents or families.

  • Same-day and short-notice bookings. Discharge transfers, urgent specialist referrals and unplanned appointments happen. We accommodate short-notice requests wherever possible.

LTC and Retirement Home FAQ

How do we set up Total Care Transport as a preferred provider for our facility?

Call us at 905-878-1170 or email contact@totalcaretransport.ca. We will arrange a brief conversation with your Director of Care or care coordinator, confirm your transport needs and set up your facility account. Most facilities are set up within one call.

Can you manage recurring schedules for multiple residents?

Yes. We manage recurring transport schedules for multiple residents at the same facility. Each resident's schedule is tracked separately. Your care team deals with one contact and one account regardless of how many residents we are transporting.

What happens if a resident's appointment time changes?

Call us as soon as you know and we will update the schedule. We understand that appointment times shift and accommodate changes without issue.

Do you provide stretcher transport for residents who cannot sit upright?

Yes. We have two-person stretcher teams for residents who require bed-to-bed transfers. This includes residents in palliative care, post-surgical residents and those with conditions requiring lying flat during transport.

Are you able to transport residents to dialysis on a recurring basis?

Yes. Dialysis transport is one of our most common services for LTC facilities. We set up the full weekly schedule and coordinate directly with the dialysis clinic on timing. Your care coordinator sets it up once and we manage it ongoing.

How is billing handled for facility accounts?

We provide invoicing directly to the facility for all transport services. Billing frequency and format can be discussed when setting up your account. We aim to make the administrative process as straightforward as possible for your team.
